Module 10

Augmented reality combines virtual elements and a person’s real world environment.

It uses the existing environment and overlays new information on top of it to create an interactive experience.
How can augmented reality be used in the classroom?

Teachers can create posters as a target where students can scan the poster and be guided through a task.

A brain break poster can get students up and moving throughout the room to complete a movement task. Students just have to scan the day of the week and start moving!

Create targets that students can scan to promote further inquiry of information or as a formative assessment where the students can check their answers.
For PE, I can set up a scavenger hunt around the gym or building. Targets can lead students through a variety of fitness challenges or to a different location to find another target.
Put targets within a newsletter or email. It will make reading it a more interactive experience for parents and students.

Use augmented reality to guide students through a physical activity, such as dancing!
