is for Alacahoyuk
Alacahoyuk is an ancient site in Çorum. It was the old Hittite capital of Hattusa. Its excavation was begun in 1907 and resumed in 1935. There is a sphinx gate. They discovered a large Hittite building there. There are 13 tombs. They also found jewellery, bowls, jugs and gold in there. (prepared by students of Bizimkent İlkokulu, İstanbul)

Bosphorus is a natural strait in Istanbul. It connects The Black Sea to the Marmara Sea. It has a very strategic location because it is the only connecting point of Black Sea. Its length is 32 kms.(20 miles) It has a very beautiful and peaceful scenery. You can lose your soul in Bosphorus' blues.

is for Catalhöyük
Çatalhöyük is an archeological site in the Middle East near Konya. It's the world's oldest town. Excavations show us that it was the centre of an advanced culture. It was probably from 6700 BC to 5650 BC. People in the past lived in rectangular mud-brick houses. They entered houses from roof by a wooden ladder. Houses had platforms for sleeping or working. They grew seeds and had farm animals. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

is for Dolmabahce Palace

Dolmabahçe Palace is in Bosphorus Strait between Beşiktaş and Kabataş, İstanbul. In 1843 Sultan Abdulmecid ordered to build a new palace. Also Atatürk stayed and died there on November 1938. Later on it was converted into a museum in 1952. Dolmabahçe Palace has 3 floors, symmetrical planned. There are 285 rooms and 43 halls.

Ephesus was used as a port and used to be the most important commercial centre. It played a great role in the ancient times with its strategic location. Ephesus, once, the trade centre of the ancient world, a religious centre of the early Christianity and today, it is an important tourism centre in İzmir, Turkey. It is in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Galata Bridge is on the Golden Horn,
Eminönü, İstanbul. For nice view of Istanbul,
you can take a walk across the Galata Bridge.
It is a naturally protected harbor and
inlet of the Bosphorus River. There are lots of
fishing boats, tour boats, and ferries. Galata Bridge connects
the Old City (former Byzantium) to
the south with the New City to the

H is for Hagia Sophia
Hagia Sophia sits 4 km west of Trabzon's centre. It is so close to sea. The Hagia Sophia Museum was originally a church in the 13th century. It was converted into a mosque after the conquest of the city by the Ottoman Empire in 1461.

H is for HATAY MOSAICS MUSEUM
It is the second largest mosaic museum of the world. Hatay mosaic museum is in the Cumhuriyet square. It is the world's third largest museum because of the coin collection. The works of Hittite, Hellenistic, Roma, Constantinople period and the antiques of Atçana, Seleukeia Pieria, Harbiye, Antakya, İskenderun are exhibited.

is for ILGAZ MOUNTAIN
Ilgaz Mountain National Park is 45km south of Kastamonu, and 200km north of Ankara, and in the Central Anatolian region.
The Northern Anatolian line is the longest and most active mount line in Turkey, It passes through the southern foot of Ilgaz Mountain. You can see the black pine trees there. Scotch pine and fir tree cover almost all of the mountain. The high annual rainfall has made this an area with much wildlife, with roe deer, wild boar, wolves, bears and foxes . Jale Kuşhan wax museum is in a shopping mall in İstanbul. It is the first wax museum in Turkey. There are very important figures from Turkey and different countries in the world. You can see some waxworks of important figures like Atatürk, Fatih Sultan Mehmet, Leonar Da Vinci, Michael Jackson. You can visit this museum from 10:00 a.m to 10:00 p.m on weekdays. Kula fairy chimneys are mysterious wonders of nature in Manisa.
Since it has a volcanic structure, it is formed by the effects of wind and rain. In order to keep the chimneys of Kula Fairy, the region was completely protected. This natural beauty is declared a natural site. (Prepared by Yozgat)



is for Letoon Ancient City
Xanthos-Letoon is one of the most important archaeological sites in Turkey. So, it has been registered in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites list. It is in Muğla,in Mediterranean Region. It was built in BC 7th century for Apollo and Artemis' mother,Leto. It is one of the tourist attractions in Fethiye. It's not far from Patara and a day trip from Kalkan, Kaş or Fethiye.

Mevlana Museum is in Konya. It is famous for Mevlana Mausoleum. He is a well known great dervish, poet and pioneer of the Islamic mysticism, His full name is Mevlana Jelaleddin Rumi. This museum includes many sections such as outdoors, Dervish Cells, Kitchen, Yard, Mosque, Library, Chant Room, Water-tank with a fountain, Semahane and Çerag Door.
