chapter 1 Communication Skills & Customer relations

Unit 1 visual creation
In unit one on communication skills and customer relations I learned how to use communication properly, have good customer service and all about customer relations. The main ideas I got from this unit is that I learned the importance of communication within businesses and how it is used in modern day life.
After reading the various articles on customer relations and customer service i recognize the difference between the two. I have seen customer relations where I work where it’s encouraged to create relationships with customers to keep them wanting to come back. I have dealt with customer service when a cake order has gone wrong and accommodated them to make the customer happy. Customer service and Customer relations add to the customer experience. I also learned about email etiquette and how to effectively send a clear, concise and clear email. I learned that making a good impression is very important in what affects your ability to get a job.
:I can apply what I’ve learned to how I talk to customers at my job, how I communicate to my bosses or supervisors. I learned how to effectively email an important person by having a clear, concise, concrete, correct, coherent, and courteous message. For example, when I need to email a teacher about a missing assignment in the grade book I should make the subject clear, communicate my message with impoliteness. These skills are important to use in real life and can be applied everyday to communicate correctly and to be a better employee or student.

These photos show effective communication skills with business partners and an Apple employee. This is important because you can become close with customers and understand what they want.
chapter 2 Information management

The summary of unit 2 is how to understand how businesses manage and organize information. This is crucial to learning about how businesses work because managing information and keeping records of customers and statistics about sales helps businesses stay consistent in sales, learn what they could do better and maintain information to keep all employees on the same page. For example, if you own a business that sells clothes and other goods people like to have you could keep customer information to promote your upcoming products with emails, mail or by calling the customer. Businesses also create websites to further keep customers informed about their goods they are selling.
As I reflect on the information in unit 2 about information management I can see the many examples of how businesses keep their consumers informed and maintain their records. I connected with this information because when I go shopping at the mall, vendors will ask for your name, email, and number when your purchase something. I have also seen in movies how businesses use spreadsheets and information systems to analyze their sales, analyze their operating expenses and level of sales. Businesses that do not use these tools may have failure of staying afloat concerning financial status. This adds value because there are many tools that help businesses stay successful.
This can be applied to the real world because in the movie, Devil Wears Prada the assistants to the boss use computers, cellphones and planners to organize information, keep track of all customers, and remember colleagues of the boss. This is important to keeping the Vogue magazine a good appearance and overall personality of the magazine as the boss always seems to remember every colleague and model that the assistants help her remember. Another way they stay successful is by using spreadsheets in presentations on themes for the magazine by concluding how the audience of Vogue will respond.

These are 4 parts of information manageme-nt that are crucial to businesses.
chapter 3 Professional development

As I studied the information about professional development I learned important factors about being a good employee, succeeding in my career and what not to do in certain situations. Professional development is important to everyone because no matter what job or career you choose to pursue you must have skills and qualities from professional development. I know that teachers even have professional development workshops they attend to improve their abilities and knowledge in their profession. This will lead to teachers success because they learn multiple ways they can teach a lesson and help students understand a concept in depth.
After watching the TedTalk about owning your professional development I learned that in whatever career you decide to work in you must work to where you want to be in that certain profession. There are always possibilities and opportunities for improvement in your career or job. The unit pretest questions taught me that you have to be a good employee, work hard towards your goals and how to better improve your position in your job. I can relate to this because when I worked at a bakery for about 6 months I asked for a raise and my boss agreed because of how long I had been working there.
What I have read and watched can be applied to real life because in many professions there are opportunities to be promoted and climb the ladders of success by achieving different work statuses. This knowledge can be put into action by when I apply for my next job I will keep in mind that a follow up letter or email would show the business or employer of my continued interest in the position I am applying for. This would be really helpful to use in the real world to make sure I can secure the job position that I need.

Many business professional attend professional development classes to improve their professional skills in their field.
chapter 4 Business Operations management

In unit 4, Business Operations Management I learned how businesses became successful in effectively managing their systems and processes. I learned that business operations are crucial to the establishment of successful businesses. Business operations is work of managing the inner workings of a business so it runs efficiently. The reason why this is so important is because management is the ability to plan, organize, coordinate and monitor. These businesses create products and services that generate money. They also monitor, evaluate, and streamline. These organizational processes in order to increase production or delivery of goods and services.
As I learned this information about Business Operations Management I reflected upon this information to connect to the real world. One of these examples I found was Chick Fil A has effective business operations and management. I connected to this information because someday I want to have my own business and this information helped me learn what I should do one day to effectively run my own business in the future. This add values to my knowledge of how I can achieve my goal in the future. I learned that goals of businesses must maximize effectiveness, efficiency, productivity, availability, grow business and make money.
What I have learned from this unit is how I can apply this to real life. For example, Chick Fil A is a business that effectively runs their business smoothly, maintains success, and grow their business. The available knowledge I used is I knew how successful businesses look like and I know that every good business has good protocol for managing their business. In real life I can use this information about businesses by confirming that I will shop or go to their business to give them money. I enjoy going to good establishments as their place is efficient and makes me happy that I am spending my money is there.

A business manager oversees the operations and manages employees.
