ACTIVITIES FOR STUDENTS AND
OTHER TEACHERS

In September 2017, our school was visited by Mrs Sylvia Slavica Eggert from Melbourne, Australia. She met the 6th grade students and shared her experience of everyday life in Australia with them.
Alongside learning about Australia on their geography and English classes, the students expanded their knowledge of the cultural, historic and natural heritage of this extraordinary country.

A SPECIAL GUEST FROM MELBOURNE

During October 2017, the students from Ms Dijana Pertunaj’s Art group worked hard to create the logo for our project.
The students came up with great ideas how to incorporate the symbols of the countries that their teachers are about to visit and the main objectives of the project into very creative images. It was hard to choose the winning logo among all those beautiful pieces of art.

THE PROJECT LOGO
In October 2017, 8th and 6th grade students participated in the workshop Erasmus + organized by 1st Elementary School Bjelovar's students and teachers in the town's library. They took part in fun activities and communicated the advantages of applying for the European Union funded projects.

ERASMUS + WORKSHOP AT THE TOWN’S LIBRARY
In January 2018, English teachers organized the 2nd Spelling Bee Competition for 10 to 14-year-old students (4th to 8th grade).
Alongside applying and taking part in the competition, the students explored this tradition and created beautiful posters and presentations on the subject.

SPELLING BEE COMPETITION

St Valentine's Day

During their English classes, students made beautiful posters, researched the historical background of this holiday, wrote Cinquan poems about love, made thoughtful gifts for each other and learned how to say "I love you" in many languages.

As part of this inquiry-based learning project the students had to explore and investigate London and its sights. After the research, they made posters, picture books, tourist guides and used ICT tools to present the results to other teachers and students. The students' work was exhibited in the school hall and was admired by the British ambassador who honored us with his visit.

4TH GRADERS' "TRIP" TO LONDON
The art teacher Dijana Pertunaj and the English teacher Daniela Nejašmić delivered a CLIL lesson about colors in English to Art group students and other interested teachers. This activity was a part of the eTwinning project PIE-Painting in
English that they carried
out with schools
from Poland and
Turkey.
